As a transplanted mainlander who has lived in Tassie for almost 20 years now,I predict that if Tassie gets its own AFL side,it will make the finals and win premierships long before the Gold Coast ever does. The people here have a real passion and love for football, something you couldn’t say exists on the Gold Coast in any shape or form. |

Well the new Tassie NBL side has just made it into the NBL Finals. I wonder if the AFL has looked at the early success of that club? How many members? How many sell out games?
There is obviously a want for major teams down there. And it's not the 90's anymore. With a population of 540,000, the question is, which city will they be located?
Tasmania, Canberra and the NT dont have a club. Will the AFL look at those locations or will they try to push into north Qld? Newcastle? Or another club from WA or SA? _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

The state government is talking about building a 750 million dollar stadium on the waterfront in Hobart( with Federal money as well) so I think that most games would be played in Hobart. But I’m sure Launceston would get quite a few games a season as well. |

I've read our President is yet to be convinced to support the inclusion of Tasmania because of concerns of the long term "viability" of the club. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |
