I think I've got a decent collection, but there's usually always something out there you've never seen.... |
Kill for Collingwood (Stremski 1986) is the definitive Collingwood archive (to 1986), exceptioanly well researched and written. Its like the King James Bible for Collingwood diehards.
Good luck finding a copy though, and expect to pay North of $100. _________________ "The Club's not Jock, Ted and Gerry" (& Eddie)

So after everything, I actually got in contact with the co-author Michael Hyde. He replied within a couple hours and believes he will be able to get me a copy.

That doesn't surprise me. Michael Hyde has been a friend of mine for over 50 years and is an extremely nice bloke. If I had seen your post when you originally posted it I would have contacted Michael for you.
Stremski's book was the first academic history of a VFL/AFL club and probably still the best (and not just because it is the history of the best club) _________________ Born and raised in Black and White |

Like others, I highly recommend 'Kill for Collingwood'. Fantastic read.
I wish a 2nd edition was written to encompass the McAlister, Rose and McGuire years. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

Jezza, those years need to be written about by someone else. Stremski was part of the recent history... and he fought to cling on to his power:
K wrote: | Stremski was biased and became part of the problem for the other side (the next batch of supposed White Knights).*
<snip>
*From the same source:
"However, the board members didn't go quietly...
The following night, after some angst, the revolution was accepted. ... Stremski was the hold-out duing the twenty-four hours, needing the guarantee of a new position as the club's general manager, created following Graeme Allan's departure to Brisbane, in order to agree." |

I've managed to get a couple of the author, Michael Hyde's, other titles. I haven't received Ossie Rules just yet. I might send a reminder in Feb, when I'm back at work. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |
