Post subject: Eddie to be honoured at Doggies match! | |

Very Funny!
Ed is to be honoured by the dogs on and off the ground sunday. This is for "saving" the club. Seems without his input they would not have any new sponsors, and therefore would be begging at the door of the AFL wanting a bigger share of our money!
Was even suggested that a medal, the "Eddie McGuire Medal" be struck and awarded at each Pies vs Dogs matches.

I think how Eddie has helped the lagging doggies can only be good for footy. I remember in 1990 the CFC got behind the save the Tigers. I remember walking into Vic park with Tigers fans with cans asking for money to help save the club. I gave what i could. I believe we need to keep the structure as it is. However, maybe moving a couple of clubs north would help. My suggestion is...Kangas to Canberra...doggies to Gold Coast...Melbourne to Tasmania. What Eddie is doing is helping keep the current competition alive and thriving.
If your not bleeding Black and White, you don't truly support Collingwood!!!!! |

Histroy repeats...
My memory is sketchy but I have read how Collingwood saved Carlton in 1910 because they were struggling.
If it wasn't for us there wouldn't be an AFL!
(any or all of the above might be wrong)

Good memory stretching back to 1910...
I think Eddie felt sorry for the struggling clubs like most of us do, not all of us were able to host a functin for them and attract sponsors though!! It's good to see the recognitin from Smorgan and the other WB people, (maybe they wont be the AFL lap dogs too much longer!!) Good work Eddie.
