Anyone watch the Bulldogs/Hawthorn game? I'm curious to find out how they beat them. The stats were pretty close, but I see the Bulldogs won the clearances (Boyd had 11), which is where the Bulldogs did well against us, too. Hawthorn's best players seemed to do well, but they also look to have a lot of average players in the bottom half of their team, though admittedly I haven't seen much of them. _________________ In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

Pietilidie, according to the radio call, the Doggies played pretty well across the board in an even team efffort, while Hawthorn relied on huge efforts from two or three stars, with many others contributing little. The two sides were evenly matched until the last when Minson and Hudson were able to monster a tiring Renouf in the ruc,k and Barry Hall, after a poor first half, lifted to dominate up forward and boot four. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

cracking game, although bettered only a couple of hours later by the dockers/cats.
very intense, much like fri night. same story as last week for the hawks - in the game for a long time until renouf tired in the ruck. barry hall was barely a threat until then. once the midfield clearances went the dogs way, quick movement to an open F50 made it simple to hit him up - he kicked 4 of his 6 in the last qtr when the hawks were knackered after a 6 day break.
hawks very hard at it but we can expose their ruck issues next week and they again looked suspect with tall forwards playing deep against small defenders in gilham and gibson (who did a hammy and wont play next week).
rioli was unbelievably good and i really cannot think of who we have to stop him. roughead was their go-to guy up forward. franklin had one mark for match (even then, deep in defence with 3 mins to play) and was kept goalless for the game. he's clearly lacking confidence and match fitness but it has me worried - he's due for a big haul sooner or later.
hawks very beatable but again it will depend on clearances and delivery inside 50 - guess that applies to just about every team these days though. |
