Mrs WPT & I went to the cinema today & saw "Youth".

Great stuff & wonderful to watch on the big screen.

It was: contrived, long, powerful, emotional & above all a ripper of a film. Cinematography was a treat. Marvellous soundtrack too.

Featuring Michael Caine, Harvey Keitel, Rachel Weisz,

I have huge reservations about Sorrentino as a filmmaker, but I did like The Great Beauty a lot – at least, the bits of it that I didn't hate. I'll probably try to see this one though I expect to be just as frustrated by it.

Yeah there were gaps or issues one could be frustrated by but overall it's well worth seeing. Knocks your socks off.

Here's the link for something I stumbled upon today.
A digital design agency from Kent in England have a movie quiz.
It's a street scene in which they have placed visual clues to 65 films.
This is not my area of expertise, and beyond the obvious ones, I'm buggered.
Maybe some of our movie aficionados will do better. Can you name all 65?
Hope the link works!

I'm up to 53, no idea where the last 8 come from except the Frying pan, can't think of what that's from.

Funny, I've probably seen it about a half dozen times, but have never actively sought it out. It's just one of those movies you can't take your eyes off when it happens to be on.
So, after a bit of channel surfing I just sat through it from 2.00-4.25am on Jan 1, with no intention of doing so. Lol.

Geez I must be getting old. Laughing

I've never actually seen it.

Same here!

Your kidding? That should be illegal, go get a copy or download it, you will love it, it's got everything, drama, intrigue, humour, not action but violence! And simply the best endings ever, it's just a brilliant movie, casting, scenery, everything. When it's on telly, you just can't flick past it!

Watched The Revenant last night. At 2 and a half hours it's long but never really felt like it was dragging. Very brutal at times. I liked it more than I thought I would. 8.5/10

But the big big big question is

Will Leo finally get his Oscar?

I just watched Woody Allen's Crimes and Misdemeanours again. I was wondering if I'd still like it the second time around, but was really impressed with it. The ending in particular is excellent.
