Post inauguration Trump:

Well, the US is third in the confirmed cases table, having overtaken Germany and Spain in recent times. Just another example of him Making America Great Again. Personally, I don’t think he’s done, yet - I am confident he’s aiming for first place. The US is already second in active confirmed cases - if they could just roll out some more testing, Trump could burst into ladder leadership.

George W. II: Mission Accomplished Greatly Again!
When people look back they will always have that photo op with Kim Jong-un. I guess the homeless could always build lean-tos against the border wall.

If you're going to judge fairly, you need a per capita analysis, and according to this, they are about rank 44.Pies4shaw wrote:Well, the US is third in the confirmed cases table, having overtaken Germany and Spain in recent times. Unfortunately, the serial bankrupt has caused four whopping financial problems, the first three through his policies, the fourth through his mismanagement and science denialism.
The first is a global growth slump caused by his moronic trade war and international destabilisation.
The second is massive unproductive deficits caused by his disgraceful billionaire tax cuts, laughable border wall, poisonous environmental protection wind back, monstrous military budget expansion, and wrecking of cost-saving healthcare reform.
The third is over-inflated asset prices due to his obsession with Wall Street numbers, abuse of authority by bullying of the central bank, and market boosterism to make himself look good.
A fourth is of course his mismanagement and denialism which caused the US to waste weeks as the virus spread.
Add to that the cost of ignoring climate change, which will keep raining down in the form of extreme weather events, fires and the like.
And don't forget international instability, will hamper coordinated reaction to push through these problems. The small-minded tool has been white anting international institutions since his first day in office.
The flailing moron is miles out of his depth and risks making a horror situation even worse by creating still unimagined crises. The white coats need to drag him away for the sake of humanity.

I'm no fan of the Democrats, but why would you let the people who caused this and the last financial crisis control that much money without input?stui magpie wrote:^
Meanwhile the Democrats won't pass the stimulus package
Who in their sane mind lets bankrupters and conmen control 1-2T after they've just crashed the system for a second time?

My take is that they are of very sane mind and are playing politics. They know damn well they aren't going to get real change, they're making statements, trying to make themselves a small target and put blame on Trump.pietillidie wrote:I'm no fan of the Democrats, but why would you let the people who caused this and the last financial crisis control that much money without input?stui magpie wrote:^

Failure to release the stimulus package also puts pressure on Trump to stop the shutdown.

How many lives is the world economy worth? That's not a trite oversimplification. It is an open question being raised by President Donald Trump.
He is itching to scale back on social distancing as soon as possible and openly wondering if this is all worth it. The all-caps was his in a tweet Sunday: "WE CANNOT LET THE CURE BE WORSE THAN THE PROBLEM ITSELF. AT THE END OF THE 15 DAY PERIOD, WE WILL MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHICH WAY WE WANT TO GO!"
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

^I think the politics can be assumed both ways, but given the existing debt and mountain of financial problems Trump/GOP have already created, 1-2T of misused funds on top of those issues will crash the economy for an eternity. You can't keep allowing malpractice to pile up on malpractice.
You and I were both concerned about far left spending, e.g., if Sanders was elected. But don't let that distract from the worst financial managers in modern history, i.e., the GOP. You can't worry about Sanders and then argue known hacks with 2 financial crises to their name warrant rubber stamping.

Notorious anti Republican author writes completely biased one sided article slamming Republicans in anti Trump newspaper. More news at 6.
Dig deeper.
Yes, the Republicans tried to slide in some pork for their donors, meanwhile the Dems put in a raft of ideological nonsense that has nothing whatsoever to do with the virus outbreak. Never let a crisis go to waste, even if it means playing with lives. The first bill was a negotiated, bipartisan bill.. until Pelosi got her claws into it.
