Pretty sure there was another thread on Finlay where I posted a comparison against other Vic midfielders from the same draft. Most of the Victorian early picks who missed an entire season from Covid are struggling to make an impact at AFL level. Give him time. He was a fine junior and he has a good work ethic. He’s got a bit of catching up to do yet, particularly if you come to an AFL club as a pure inside mid fielder.
Gary Player “ the harder I practice, the luckier I get “
He was an absolute star at Xavier College. He will be a star at AFL level too. He effectively missed 2 seasons of footy before being drafted.
Give him time.
Reckon Nicksters will enjoy what he produces for the Pies over the coming years.
Finlay will play when the coaches think he can impact when and where they see fit. What’s the issue here when we have just secured him to the books for 2 more years and in the meantime be able to work on he’s fitness and football craft without scrutinise.
He, along with others are just a victim of circumstance. That circumstance being our form and meteoric rise up the ladder. If we were out of finals contention then he'd have been given more games, but hard to drop anyone while we're winning and playing well.
Good to hear that he's got 2 more years.
