Thanks for the Bobby Hill highlight extravaganza. He’s something special, isn’t he. So much that’s impressive: how many tackles and especially second tackles he makes; there were few gimme goals - most he worked hard for and made happen; his lightning acceleration and ability to evade.think better wrote:This is pretty special https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJTFsdEFjQE
Came on here to post the link!
Something about electric pace and fast twitch muscle responses that is soo good to watch. He’s the closest thing to Cyril I can think of.
Grateful he’s on our team. Can’t wait for my grand final framed print of the hanger to arrive!

Thanks for putting the highlights link up - love watching this bloke play, it's poetry in motion, oozing talent, speed, accuracy. Hard at it - the complete package, for the role he plays.
I can imagine Fly designing plays just to get him the ball, streaming towards goal - magic often happens once he's got it

What a star. You could just tell with the tackles he was laying against the Giants he was set to explode. But to actually play like that on the biggest stage of all is something else.
In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

Fly and the coaching group must receive most of the plaudits here I think.pietillidie wrote:What a star. You could just tell with the tackles he was laying against the Giants he was set to explode. But to actually play like that on the biggest stage of all is something else.
The atmosphere of encouraging daring play, total support by each player for the others and a general attitude of forget the mistake you just made and focus on the next play.
This is the core of our magic this year - a totally inclusive and comprehensively supportive ethos that wraps the club, the players and the fans together as a united group.
Will say it again, but the notion of finding what each player is best at and putting them in the team and asking them to do that is arguably what sets this coaching crew apart. We’re not trying to make ruckmen into key forwards, but we manage to find someone like Hill and say “you’re pretty handy up forward and especially in space - we’re gonna play you in a position where those talents can win us matches”. Similarly Frampton. A C-grader at most positions but his strength is arguable his versatility. Sadly, it’s probably the same doctrine which saw Noble miss the finals. Wonder if we see a new slant on this approach in 2024? I am sure the coaches won’t rest on their laurels.
