Has the list size increased this season? There seems to be a lot more players signing up compared to previous years.

I believe teams can have a squad of 35 players plus a couple of train on players.

There are a few, like Josh Mathey, who will predominantly play with their home club and be brought in as the 23rd player for a game.

Signing players means that they can be brought into the Pies environment eg. trainng and the club can keep an eye on their progress.

There has also been quite a lot of movement across the VFL and VFLW this year for teams (not just Collingwood). Some is due to players steppng away from VFL, going back to play at local/regional level.

After failing to get picked up via the SSP by either Collingwood or Essendon, Sam Sonfridis has signed with the VFL Pies.

Experienced defender is a good addition to the Pies with the departure of Lachie Tardrew.
